Warsaw Stock Exchange targets acquisition in Ukraine

Beata Yarosh, management board member of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, said yesterday the Polish exchange plans to take over a stock exchange in Ukraine. According to her, a final decision is expected in August-September 2008. In May, the Russian RTS and 20 Ukrainian market players agreed to jointly establish a new stock exchange in Ukraine. It is rumored that another two foreign stock exchanges, Nasdaq OMX and MICEX, are also eyeing acquisitions in Ukraine.
