Yanukovich Fails To Show For Questioning

31 May 2008

Opposition leader Viktor Yanukovich failed to show for questioning yesterday, claiming that the Prosecutor?s Office had failed to notify him that he had been summoned. Concorde Capital: While the new government is eager to disenfranchise its opposition and consolidate power, they are unlikely to arrest Yanukovich. Many local political analysts have suggested arresting Yanukovich would only make him into a martyr and more credible opposition figure than he really is. His reputation suffered significantly when he lost his presidential bid at the end of last year.
