Yanukovych names another loyalist to cabinet

President Viktor Yanukovych fired Ukraine’s minister of environment and natural resources on Friday and appointed Eduard Stavitsky in his place. Stavitsky was previously the head of the State Service for Geology and Mineral Resources. Stavitsky is regarded to be close to the president. According to Ukrayinska Pravda, Stavitsky used to head a company that had a role in transferring a controversial rural Kyiv estate to the Yanukovych family and was later bankrupted.
