Yushchenko Goes To Kazan For CIS Summit.

26 August 2008

President Yushchenko left this morning for the Russian city of Kazan for a two day summit with other CIS leaders. The summit will focus on restructuring and reforming the CIS agreement. On Saturday, the President will attend a summit on the Common Economic Space (CES), which is also being held in Kazan. Concorde Capital: The outcome of these two summits could have a significant impact on Ukraine?s future development. Russia is likely to use these meetings to unveil its new foreign policy, which may pressure countries such as Ukraine and Georgia by no longer providing them with access to inexpensive gas and energy resources. The summit also looks like a chance for Ukraine to begin to balance its relations between Russia and the West.
