Yushchenko halts privatization of TATM and GenCos

By a decree dated December 19, President Viktor Yushchenko excluded nine companies from the government’s privatization list for 2009. The President halted privatization of four engineering companies, among them – Turboatom (TATM); four electricity generating companies: Dniproenergo (DNEN), Donbasenergo (DOEN), Zakhidenergo (ZAEN) and Centrenergo (CEEN); and Shipyard More. Alexander Paraschiy: This is the third President’s decree issued in 2008 to suspend privatization of four GenCos and TATM. President’s recent move is exactly what we forecasted in our comment for October 2, 2008 news describing President’s unblocking privatization for 2008.
