Zelensky’s reelection support drops in October, "undecideds" up

The latest polling from the Kyiv  International
Institute of Sociology (KIIS) shows President Volodymyr Zelensky’s reelection
support dropping, KIIS reported on Oct. 20. If the election were held on the
Sunday after the polling, 24.7% of those who are sure who they would vote for
would vote for him. In comparison, he garnered 27.3% and 33.3% support at the
end of May and mid-September accordingly.

The ratings of former president Petro Poroshenko and
former PM Yuliya Tymoshenko remained close to their averages, at 15.6% and
12.2% respectively. Recently ousted parliamentary speaker Dmytro Razumkov’s
rating more than doubled, at 7.1% versus 3.1% at the end of May. However, the
percentage of those answering that it is hard to answer or do not know rose
from 10.4% in May to 13.8% currently.

James Hydzik: Zelensky’s
rating trouble seems to be more than just a sympathy vote for Razumkov, given
that both politicians’ support changes and the “don’t know” group changed at
the edges of the margin of error. It will take another polling cycle or two to
see if Razumkov can keep the traction he’s gained, but Zelensky’s decline along
with the increase of undecided voters could be signs of further troubles.
