Energy minister Yury Boiko said during a visit to Crimea that the government would help Krymenergo (KREN: BUY) make UAH 1250m (about $250m) of investments in 2007-2010, including $100m for renovation and $150m for new infrastructure and equipment. Alexander Paraschiy: KREN is being singled out for help because, due to its location on a peninsula, its power grid has only one linkto other regional power grids and thus it is particularly prone to failure in case of power line damage. The huge investments announced by Boiko would increase the stability of KREN’s supplies and significantly decrease its electricity losses.
