EU extends Russia sanctions for failure to uphold Minsk Accords

Leaders of EU member-states agreed on June 22 at their Brussels summit to extend for a half-year economic sanctions against Russia that were imposed for failure to fulfill the Minsk Accords to resolve the conflict in Donbas, as reported on Twitter by EU Council President Donald Tusk.

Zenon Zawada: There is nothing to indicate that Western leaders will relax sanctions for the next year, or that the Russian government will do anything to prompt their relaxation. Next month, German Chancellor Merkel and French President Macron will report on the status of the Minsk Accords before EU leaders decide to extend the most severe sanctions against Russia.
