Kostyantin Zhevago, the majority owner of Ukraine’s
largest iron ore pellet exporter Ferrexpo (FXPO LN), denies having been put on
an international wanted list by Interpol, according to Interfax-Ukraine which
cited Zhevago’s press service July 15 report.
Zhevago’s lawyers know about an October application by
Ukraine’s Interpol bureau for adding him to an international wanted list.
However, this application is still being considered by Interpol, according to
Zhevago’s lawyers as cited by Interfax-Ukraine.
Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigations (DBR)
reported on July 15 that Interpol had added Zhevago to an international wanted
list on the DBR’s request. The request is related to September 2019 suspicions of Zhevago’s involvementin the alleged 2015 embezzlement of USD 113 mln from the failed Finance &
Credit (F&C) bank, DBR said.
Dmytro Khoroshun: Little new
information was provided by the recent statements by the DBR and Zhevago’s
lawyers, and the risks remain difficult to assess, we think.
We do not rule out Ferrexpo finding itself
negatively affected in some form because of Zhevago’s legal troubles.
