Gazprom to charge Ukraine USD 280/tcm in 2Q09

Valery Golubyov, deputy chair of the administration of Gazprom announced that Gazprom will charge Ukraine USD 280/tcm of gas imported in 2Q09, USD 10 more than expected by the Naftogaz earlier. Golubyov said the increase was due to global energy price trends. Naftogaz of Ukraine representatives had previously expected the following price schedule for 2009: USD 360/tcm in 1Q09, USD 270/tcm in 2Q09, USD 219/tcm in 3Q09, and USD 162/tcm in 4Q09. According to the Gazprom-Naftogaz agreement signed on January 19, 2009, the gas price is derived using a formula that accounts for prices of oil products, like in most other European countries.
