The Fuel And Energy Ministry has begun initiating the liberalization of electricity exports – allowing generation companies to export electricity by themselves. Concorde Capital: Ukraine exported 4.6 TWh of electricity to UCTE countries in 2005. Mainly from the Burshtyn and Dobrotvir power plants of Zakhidenergo (ZAEN: BUY). However, currently only one company, Ukrinterenergo, is allowed to export electricity to the west. If ZAEN obtains an export license, it will be able to get additional profits from its export-oriented activities.
