Industrial output up 11.8% yoy in January

18 February 2010

Industrial production in Ukraine rose 11.8% yoy, after gaining 7.4% yoy in December (-21.9% in 2009 in total), the State Statistics Committee reported yesterday. Improved dynamics are explained, in part, by the low comparison base at end-2008 and beginning-2009. Simultaneously, Ukraine’s metallurgy, the key industrial sector, managed to maintain monthly crude steel production at 1.5 mln mt for the third consecutive month, more than 50% above the bottom in October-November 2008.
