Industrial Production Rises 10.9% in 8M07

Ukrainian industrial production was up 8.7% yoy in August and 10.9% yoy over 8M07, according to information released by the State Statistics Committee. Industrial output slowed 0.05% mom from July to August. Polina Khomenko: The main growth drivers were machine building (+ 23.9% yoy), and food industry (+14% yoy). Growth in largest industrial sector, metallurgy, kept slowing for the fourth month in a row (+11.3% yoy in 8M07), resulting in lower overal industry growth – in line with our projections. Our forecast for industrial growth in 2007 is 9%.
