Ukraine’s largest pipe and railway wheel producer
Interpipe (INTHOL) won a court case against the Antimonopoly Committee of
Ukraine (AMCU) regarding tenders for railway wheels, according to a Facebook
page of Antitrust League, a communication platform for antitrust experts.
AMCU’s October decision to fine Interpipe Ukraine
and three other companies about UAH 70 mln (USD 2.5 mln) and to bar them from
participating in public procurements for three years was declared invalid and
cancelled. According to the AMCU’s June 1 official freedom of information
response to Antitrust League, this decision was made by Kyiv economic court on
April 27.
Dmytro Khoroshun: Interpipe
might face appeals of this decision and other challenges by the AMCU regarding
its sales in Ukraine, but these risks do not seem crucial.
Rather, it will be export sales, particularly outside
the CIS countries, that will ultimately determine Interpipe’s wellbeing in the
long term.
