Kyivstar Moves To 3G.

25 October 2008

Kyivstar announced that it had launched EDGE technology in its networks for 10 cities. This technology makes it possible to translate data wirelessly at 384 kbps. The company plans to expand its 3G mobile services. EDGE technology was first launched by Astelit in March 2005, and is going to be launched by Kyivstar’s main competitors UMC. Concorde Capital: This announcement by Kyivstar confirms that the company plans to remain the leader in the Ukrainian mobile universe, not only in terms of subscriber base, but also in terms of the implementation of new technology. However, high-speed wireless services are not demanded in Ukraine now, so this project is unlikely to be beneficial for Kyivstar in the midterm.
