Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet with his American counterpart, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, on May 10 in Washington, the U.S. State Department announced on May 8. They will discuss the conflicts in Ukraine, Syria and their bilateral relations. “On Ukraine, the sides will discuss the need to stop the violence in eastern Ukraine and resolve the conflict through the full implementation of the Minsk agreements,” the statement said. Previously, the Kremlin announced Lavrov would visit the U.S. for three days starting today.
Zenon Zawada: Their first meeting in Moscow was described as icy by the media and we don’t expect the warmer weather in Washington to improve the dialogue on Ukraine this time around. The West and Russia are at a complete dead end on the Ukrainian conflict, with no exit in sight.
