LuAZ Doubles Production In January-April To 16 ths Cars.

The company’s (LUAZ) yoy growth in April was up 104.4% to 4211 units. VAZ models made up 82% of the company’s total unit output. Lutsk Automobile also assembled 132 KIA cars and 609 Hyundai cars. In April it started serial production of Bogdan buses, and produced its first four models. In 2006 LuAZ plans to increase production of cars by 29% to 39.6th units, and make 4-4.5 ths buses and trolleybuses. The Bogdan Corporation, of which LuAZ is part of, is moving production of buses from its facilities in Cherkasy to LuAZ, and is starting production of cars in Cherkasy. The project is expected to cost around EUR 240 mln and be completed in 2007.
