Luhanskteplovoz to expand product range in 2012-2013

19 July 2012

Luhanskteplovoz (LTPL UK) will expand its product range by developing the TEM103A shunter (powered by a Caterpillar engine) this year and new TEP6 mainline locomotive (powered by a GE engine) for Southeast Asian markets in 2013, parent Transmashholding stated in its production program for 2012-2016. The company will also continue producing its 2TE116-series locomotives, including a prospective 2TE116UD model powered by General Electric.

Roman Dmytrenko: Though the product range of Luhansteplovoz is now defined for the next couple of years, Transmashholding’s program also includes plans to transform the companies it controls into a single technological chain, to avoid overlapping, by 2015-2016. Most likely Luhanskteplovoz will concentrate on the production of locomotive body parts while the Novocherkassk plant in Russia will become the profit center of Transmashholding’s locomotive segment, carrying out final assembly.
