MHP says no winter crops have been killed

17 February 2012

MHP (MHPC LI) said yesterday it has no need to resow winter crops, citing an internal agronomic inspection. The company planted 45.3 ths ha with winter wheat this year.

Yegor Samusenko: MHP stands out as the only company that has publicly stated that winter crop damage has not been as significant as the Ministry of Agriculture says (30% winter crops need to be replanted). In private talks with us, most of farmers agree with MHP that replanting needs are minimal (up to 10%), with only Kernel standing out as having declared a preliminary need to replant 30% of winter crops. We note that estimates as of the current date are not yet precise and exact figures should be available only in March.
