Motor Sich, Klimov JV to start making missile engines

Motor Sich, Klimov JV to start making missile engines

22 November 2011

A joint venture between Motor Sich (MSICH UK) and Russia’s Klimov plans to start production of P95 engines for guided air-to-surface missiles in Dubna (Russia) in 2012, the head of the JV said yesterday. Motor Sich currently produces 300 R95 engines per year, with Russia being its key consumer. The establishment of a JV reflects Russian Defense Ministry intentions to create a full cycle of military equipment production inside the country. Roman Dmytrenko: We do not expect a significant increase in related orders for Motor Sich due to new JV. In fact, production of the R95 in Russia could limit the market potential of the new MS-400 engine, which Motor Sich recently developed and tested to replace the R95.
