Naftogaz head expects market price of gas to decrease on eve of negotiations with suppliers

22 September 2008

In an interview with the weekly Kommentariyi on Friday, Naftogaz of Ukraine CEO Oleh Dubyna said that the market price for gas was likely to decrease by end-2008. According to Dubyna, prices for gas supplies are tightly linked to oil prices, which have been steadily declining since the beginning of July, and the conclusion of the next supply contact with Russia at the end of the year, as opposed to now, could allow for Ukraine to obtain a more advantageous price.
