Naftogaz says raid will not affect Gazprom payment this week

5 March 2009

Naftogaz of Ukraine Press Secretary Valentin Zemlyansky said yesterday that the raid on its office yesterday in Kyiv by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) will not affect its payment for gas imported in February from Russia to Gazprom by the March 7 deadline. Zemlyansky said that Naftogaz had already received confirmation that Gazprom had received 80% of the sum due in its accounts. Zemlyansky did not reveal the total sum due. For more details on the raid, please see our Flash Note from yesterday. Naftogaz reported this morning that the original of the January agreement with Gazprom, the target of the SBU raid, were not removed from its offices.
