NBU reserves down USD 2.9 bln month-to-date

22 October 2008

According to President Viktor Yushchenko, National Bank of Ukraine’s gold and currency reserves shrank by USD 2.9 bln to USD 34.6 bln from October 1 to 20. About USD 2 bln was used to support the UAH/USD rate, while the rest was a result of the dollar’s appreciation against the Euro, in which the National Bank holds the majority of its reserves.
