Concorde Capital: Viktor Yanukovich’s Region Party immediately called for the release of Kolesnikov, who can be detained for 72 hours before officially being convicted. President Yushchenko discussed the case with the Prosecutor General and said Ukraine would fight corruption, but not persecute political opponents. The case is now in the hands of lawyers. Interestingly, Kolesnikov?s attorney is Andriy Fedur, who represented the family of slain journalist Grigory Gongadze, a leading activist against former President Leonid Kuchma and those associated with him.
