The Central Election Commission of Ukraine established on June 2 the final results of the May 25 presidential elections. It reported that 9.86 mln voters, or 54.7% of those who participated in the vote, favored Petro Poroshenko. Based on this result, the Commission recognized Poroshenko as the elected president of Ukraine. The results were published in official government newspapers on June 3. Ukraine’s parliament voted on June 3 to convene the inauguration of the new president on Saturday, June 7. Poroshenko will travel to Warsaw on June 3, where he will meet with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski on June 3 and U.S. President Barack Obama and other European leaders on June 4 to mark the 25th anniversary of free elections in Poland.
