Prikarpatoblenergo (PREN: BUY) announced plans to build a new co-generation power plant in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk with 35 MW of power capacity and an estimated cost of $30m. The plant is intended to increase the stability of the city’s electricity and heat supply while decreasing gas consumption and electricity transmission costs. Alexander Paraschiy: It looks likePREN and the Ivano-Frankivsk city administration have reached a compromise in their conflict over control of an existing heating plant. It should be easy for PREN to find partners to finance this project, as Ivano-Frankivsk is near the EU border and its power grid is connected to the European grid, which means the new plant could potentially export electricity to the EU.
