Vasyl Hladky, CEO of Ukrzaliznytsya, Ukraine’s state-owned railway carrier announced that reforms to Ukraine’s system of railway transport will be carried out based the system used by Russian Railways. Russian Railways, a 100% state-owned company, is singling out daughter companies and non-controlling stakes to be put up for IPOs. In May 2006 Russian Railways separated from Transkonteyner, a container-transportation company which had earlier served as its affiliate. Concorde Capital: As the individual companies will be given more flexibility in terms of setting tariffs, we expect higher profitability and more active renovation of their rolling stocks, which will benefit producers of railway carriages and Luganskteplovoz (LTPL: BUY).
