Rada Set To Vote On Final Round Of WTO Laws As Yanukovich Cracks The Whip

The Rada is scheduled to vote on a law concerning scrap metal exports tomorrow, that if passed will mark the end of Ukraine’s quest to put its laws in line with WTO requirements. In related news, following a meeting of the Cabinet, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich ordered the Economic Minister to do everything necessary to get Ukraine to the final stage of WTO entrance as quickly as possible. Nick Piazza: In addition to passing WTO legislation, Ukraine still needs to reach a bilateral agreement with Kyrgyzstan. The earliest Ukraine could join the WTO is February of 2007, but spring-early summer is more likely.
