The government has prepared its list of companies to be privatized in 2007 and sent it to the Rada to be debated today. The government’s draft calls for 595 companies to be privatized in 2007 and for the budget to receive revenues of roughly USD 2 bln from the sales. The bulk of companies on the list come from the energy, coal and machine building sectors. The list includes small stakes in 21 regional energy companies, 28 companies from the coal industry and names like Luhansktepolvoz (LTPL: HOLD), Kharkiv Traktor and Rosava (ROSA). Nick Piazza: Given the State Property Fund’s pitiful privatization efforts in 2006 (as of October 1, the budget had only received USD 64 mln from privatizations or 15% of the planned USD 420 mln for 2006) makes it seem unlikely that Semenyuk and Co. will be able to reach the governments lofty plans for 2007.
