Razumkov poll shows Zelensky ratings ticking downward

Razumkov poll shows Zelensky ratings ticking downward

11 August 2021

President Volodymyr Zelensky’s rating slipped below 30%
again, according to the Razumkov Center in the Aug. 10 release of its latest
poll data. His rating slipped from 32.4% in June to 28.8%. Likewise, former
president Petro Porohenko’s rating slipped from 17.2% to 15.9%. However,
Zelensky is the only politician included in the polling who was fully trusted
by more than 10% of respondents, at 11.9% of respondents.

The ratings of both Yuliya Tymoshenko and Yuriy Boyko
improved slightly, with Boyko up from 13.0% to 14.6% and Tymoshenko up from
9.8% to 10.9%. Their parties’ ratings also rose, with Tymoshenko’s Fatherland
party’s rising from 10.5% to 11.4%, which is a high going back at least 10
polling periods. Boyko’s and Viktor Medvedchuk’s Opposition Bloc – For Life
rating rose from 15.0% to 16.2%.

The poll also charts the effective end of the Holos
party, as its rating is at 1.1% for the second quarter in a row.

James Hydzik: Though the
president’s rating has dropped below the psychologically important 30% support
level, the upcoming political season could bring him back above it. However,
there are two immediate threats to the rating, namely the response to the
current COVID upswing and the tensions that arise from the combined
Russian-Belarusian military maneuvers. At the moment, though, Zelensky’s
popularity is still compounded by a lack of real competition at the nation-wide
level, and against either Petro Poroshenko or Yury Boyko, he would win a
presidential election by roughly a 2-1 margin.
