Real GDP up 6.5% yoy in 1Q08

According to the State Statistics Committee, real GDP growth was 6.5% yoy in 1Q08, down from 7.4% in 4Q07. Nominal GDP totaled UAH 186.6 bln (USD 37.0 bln). GDP deflator was 27.3%. The share of consumption grew from 61.5% to 68.0%, at the expense of investments (from 27.8% to 25.1%) and government spending (from 20.3% to 17.9%). Real imports surged 20.2% yoy in 1Q08, while real exports grew by a marginal 0.9% yoy.For more details look for our note later today.
