Real wages in Ukraine rose 6.9% yoy in September,
slowing from 10.9% yoy growth in August, the State Statistics Service reported
on Oct. 28. The average monthly nominal wage amounted to UAH 14,239 (USD 533),
growing from UAH 13,997 in August, or 0.5% m/m in real terms.

The leaders for average monthly wages were the city of
Kyiv (UAH 20,658), and Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk (UAH 15,148) and Kyiv (UAH
14,678) regions. The largest average nominal wage increase was in hospitality
and catering services (37.9% yoy), arts, sports and recreation (35.3% yoy), as
well as information and telecommunication (26.6% yoy).

Within the industrial sector, the highest growth of

plastics production (21.0% yoy), pharmaceuticals (23.8% yoy) and machinery
(17.0% yoy).

Evgeniya Akhtyrko: We
attribute the slower growth rate of real wages in September to an increasing
comparative base of the previous year as well as accelerated consumer inflation.
We expect real wages will rise 8-9% yoy in 2021.
