23 September 2019

Retail sales advanced 9.9% yoy in real terms in 8M19,
slowing from 10.1% yoy in 7M19, Ukraine’s State Statistics Service reported on
Sept. 20.

In August, retail increased 6.7% yoy and 3.4% m/m in
real terms.

Regionally, the highest retail growth in 8M19 occurred
in the Vinnytsia (18.2% yoy), Ternopil (17.1% yoy) and Kyiv (16.0% yoy)
regions. It was slowest in the Chernivtsi (-0.6% yoy), Chernihiv (0.8% yoy),
Kherson and Zakarpattia (2.1% yoy) regions.

Evgeniya Akhtyrko: Retail sales continue to demonstrate robust growth driven by high
consumer demand and cooling inflation. We expect real retail to increase 8-9%
yoy in 2019 (vs. 5.8% yoy in 2018).
