Russia, Ukraine to agree on restarting An-70 program in October

8 October 2009

The Ministries of Defense of Russia and Ukraine will meet by the end of October and agree on terms for restarting production of the An-70, Interfax reported yesterday. Representatives of the Antonov Design Bureau are also due to take part in the meeting. In mid-August, the defense ministries of Russia and Ukraine announced changes to a bilateral agreement on the An-70, pushing the start of serial production back to 2011. The An-70 is designed to use four Motor Sich (MSICH) produced D-27 propfan engines.
