Russian regulator starts inspecting Milkiland's cheese plant

11 April 2012

Rospotrebnadzor, a Russian consumer rights watchdog, started inspecting Milkiland’s (MLK PW) Mena Cheese plant yesterday, Ukraine’s Economy Minister reported. The head of Rospotrebnadzor and Ukraine’s Economy Minister agreed last week on a resolution to the current cheese trade conflict. According to both officials, the ban on Ukrainian cheese imports will be lifted as soon as Rospotrebnadzor finishes inspections and the Ukrainian companies resolve technical issues as requested by the Russian agency. Rospotrebnadzor inspected the first of the three banned plants two weeks ago; inspections of the remaining two are scheduled for this week.
