Alexei Fyodorov, the head of Russia’s state-controlled United Aircraft Corporation, a large aviation holding company, announced plans for the industry to produce 4,500 aircraft by 2025. The plans would boost the output of military aircraft by 4.5 times and civilian aircraft by 27 times, while switching the output ratio of military to civilian aircraft manufactured from 7-to-1 currently to 1-to-2 in favor of civilian planes. Fyodorov said that this year the Russian industry plans to make 500 aircraft – 300 civilian, 100 cargo and 100 military. According to Fyodorov, UAC will focus on developing civil aviation, particularly the An-148 and Sukhoi Super Jet. Inna Perepelytsya: These plans are significantly more ambitious than the UAC’s previously announced target of 1,112 civilian aircraft by 2015. Motor Sich, supplier of engines for a number of Russian civil planes (An-148, Tu-334, Be-200), stands increase orders significantly. After final approval of the plan, which is expected by the end of the year and will include specific production figures for the number and type of airplanes, we will be able to calculate the impact on Motor Sich’s business.
