Severstal Plans 2.5-fold Output Increase at Dniprometiz.

Severstal-Metiz, the hardware division of Russia’s Severstal, approved a business plan for its Ukrainian plant Dniprometiz which includes a broadening of the company’s product range and a 2.5-fold increase in output volume to 200 ths mt by 2012. The company is also seeking a partnership with one of the major domestic producers of rolled wire (Mittal Steel Krivy Rih, Makiyivka Iron & Steel), which is a core raw material for the plant. Eugene Cherviachenko: Since Severstal acquired a controlling stake last year in Dniprometiz, an unlisted open-joint-stock company, the company’s prospects have greatly improved.
