Share Of Foreign Capital In The Ukrainian Banking System Reaches 27.6%

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, the share of foreign capital in the banking system climbed to 27.6% in 2006, up from 19.5% a year ago. Alexander Viktorov: In the Ukrainian banking sector last year we saw 11 deals closed totaling USD 2.5 bln. We expect to see foreigners to grab another 5% of the Ukrainian banking market in 2007, focusing mostly on small and mid-sized banks. The sale of Kreditprombank for USD 500 mln to the Bank of Greece last week, already has the ball rolling.
