Slavutych goes back on brewery plans in Kharkiv

Slavutych goes back on brewery plans in Kharkiv

9 December 2009

Carlsberg Beverages Ukraine, majority owner of Slavutych (SLAV), is scuttling plans to build a new plant in Kharkiv, daily Kommersant reported this morning, citing CEO Petr Chernishov. According to Chernishov, the decision was made because of declines in beer consumption due to the crisis and higher excise taxes that bumped up beer prices. Carlsberg first announced its intent to build the EUR 55 mln plant in June 2008.
