The Cabinet Orders Regions To Cut Back On Gas Consumption.

Prime Minister Yurii Yekhanurov has asked the heads of regional governments in Ukraine to reduce the amount of gas their regions consume. First Deputy Fuel and Energy Minister Yurri Prodan said that governors from all regions would be holding meetings with the heads of large enterprises to find ways to be more economical in their use of gas. The government has been trying to cut the country dependence on gas imports and the current gas conflict with Russia has put these efforts into high gear.
