The EU Agrees To Grant Ukraine Market Economy Status.

Following the EU-Ukraine summit in Kyiv yesterday, the EU agreed to recognize Ukraine as a free market economy. “The future of Ukraine is in Europe, and now we are building that future with concrete steps,” European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said, the first time an EU official has used such concrete terms in reference to Ukraine’s future in the union. Concorde Capital: It is hard to believe that only three years ago, the EU said its borders stopped were Ukraine began.  The wheels of Euro-integration are turning, albeit, slower than most people would like, Jackson-Vanik has been repealed, market economy status granted – next up WTO membership?
