U.S. ambassador confirms visa cancellation for top Ukrainian state official

U.S. Ambasssador to Ukraine John Tefft confirmed on Dec. 10 that the U.S. government canceled in October the travel visa of first deputy Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin,a key figure in the prosecution and imprisonment of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and former Internal Affairs Minister Yuriy Lutsenko. He denied Kuzmin’s claim that the U.S. government planned to arrest him during his planned visit to the U.S. The U.S. hasn’t canceled the visa of any other Ukrainian state officials and hasn’t drafted a list of prohibited officials, the ambassador said.
