Ukraine exported 10.2 mmt of grain since the beginning
of the 2018/19 marketing year starting in July, or a 9.0% decrease yoy as of
Oct. 10, the Agrarian Ministry reported that day. Ukraine exported 6.0 mmt of
wheat, 2.2 mmt of barley and 1.7 mmt of corn.
Evgeniya Akhtyrko: We expect
grain exports to pick up throughout the rest of the marketing year, as a higher
harvest of spring crops is anticipated. Recall, grain exports dropped 11% yoy in the 2017/18 season.
If the price situation on the external markets is favorable, the growth in
exported grain volume should positively affect Ukraine’s current account
balance. In 2017, grains made up 15% of Ukraine’s goods exports.
