Ukraine issues UAH 3.6 bln in VAT bonds for top refund claimants

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has released its first issue of VAT bonds to cover arrears in refunds for five exporters at a total par value of UAH 3.577 bln, according to a July 8 statement issued by the ministry. The bonds will be amortized semiannually by 10% of par value to fully amortize on July 2, 2019. The coupon rate was earlier set by the government at 9.5%, paid semiannually. The total amount of VAT bonds to be issued is UAH 7.0 bln, according to the ministry.

 

Of the five recipients of first portion of VAT bonds, three are metal producers (Industrial Union of Donbas, ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (KSTL UK), Poltava Iron Ore of Ferrexpo (FXPO LN)) while the other two are the grain and food oil trading subsidiaries of Kernel (KER PW) and Bunge’s Ukraine division.
