The National Police arrested 40 people on Nov. 4 for allegedly engaging in a corporate raid on an agricultural firm in the Poltava region of central Ukraine, the local police reported. The raid’s organizers reportedly attempted to flee but were captured, the report said. They led the group in driving into a village in an attempt to take the firm’s property, reported on his Facebook page MP Ihor Mosiychuk.
Zenon Zawada: If these reports are accurate, then it’s positive to see the government take action against suspected corporate raiders, who continue to plague the country’s business landscape. Its reputation and rankings in Doing Business indices will continue to suffer until more action is taken to combat corporate raiding, such as establishing the independent Anti-Corruption Court that is backed by Western governments.
