Ukraine Reaches Agreement On Gas Debt

According to media reports, Russia and Ukraine have reached an agreement by which the later will be able to payoff its USD 1.3 bln debt for gas to Gazprom. RosUkrenergo will payoff USD 650 mln of the debt by selling 5 bln cm of gas from Ukraine’s underground storage facilities. Another USD 400 mln will be paid by Ukrgazenergo and the remaining USD 250 mln will be paid by either Naftogaz Ukraine or RosUkrenergo. Former Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich is scheduled to meet with Russian officials today to finalize the deal.
