Ukraine to draw EUR 300 mln from European Investment Bank for Euro-2012

Ukraine plans to take out a EUR 300 mln loan from the European Investment bank (to finance preparations for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championships, Vice-Prime Minister Ivan Vasyunik said on Friday (via Interfax). According to Vasyunik, the EIB will make a decision on the loans in early fall. Projects that could receive financing under the program include the construction of airports in Lviv and Donetsk, and road works in each of the four host cities. Vasyunik also said Ukraine was prepared to secure investments from Chinese banks with state guarantees for construction projects necessary for Euro-2012.
