The Ukrainian government will maintain its policy of
adaptive quarantine – with both general and regional preventive measures –
despite the infection rate reaching the announced threshold of 60 active
illnesses per 100,000, Health Minister Maksym Stepanov told his daily press
briefing on July 3. The current rate as of this morning is 59.7 infections per
100,000, he said, while the announced threshold will apply only to determining
whether to postpone standardized admissions testing.
Cases of the COVID-19 disease reached 876 in July 2,
according to statistics released this morning by the National Security and
Defense Council. An estimated 27 people died, while 505 recovered. The Lviv
region had the most infections at 153, with 11 of the casualties.
Zenon Zawada: The
infection rate is on the brink, but relatively stable compared to last week. We
expect infection cases to remain in the 600-900 range this weekend and the
government to maintain its adaptive quarantine policy.
