Ukraine Will Purchase Turkmen Gas At USD 44 Per 1,000 Cm

27 June 2008

Naftogaz negotiated gas deliveries from Turkmenistan at a price of USD 44 per 1,000 cm, starting from July 1. In January 2005, Ukraine had to agree on a price increase from USD 44 to USD 58 per 1,000 cm of Turkmen gas. In order to negotiate for the gas price reduction, the barter scheme was cancelled. Under the barter program, Ukraine paid 50% of the gas price through the delivery of goods and services to Turkmenistan. Under the new agreement, all settlements will be made in cash. Ukraine purchased 29.2 bn cm of gas from Turkmenistan in 2004.
