State Customs Head Max
Nefyodov recently met with delegations of the Polish and Chinese customs
services to plan more intense cooperation, he announced on his Facebook page on
Sept. 8. Among the priorities of his New Customs program of international
cooperation are upgrading the border infrastructure with Poland, establishing
new border crossings at the Polish border, performing a joint audit of the
Polish border, improving the exchange of customs information (the Chinese
responded to only nine inquires in the last year, Nefyodov noted), and creating
a mechanism for the voluntary notification of customs violations, he wrote. In
addition, joining the Chinese-Slovakian freight memorandum would greatly
relieve customs traffic on Ukraine’s Western border, he said.
